Trestle Inn
The infamous Trestle Inn, tucked in the Superior National Forest and near Lake County snowmobile trails, is a must-stop tradition when riding the trails. You’ll find tasty grub, homemade pizzas, and a full bar.
Have a group of 10 or more? You can reserve the upstairs but must call in advance.
They are located along the Tomahawk Snowmobile Trail and serve as the main gateway to the Prospectors Loop ATV Trail, which runs to Ely, MN. You can grab a detailed map while you’re there. Low on gas? Nearby Crooked Lake Resort has 24/7 available fuel, a liquor and general store, and bait.
A Unique Story
The owners of Crooked Lake Resort initially opened the off-the-beaten-path country saloon to handle the large number of snowmobilers coming through. One day, while snowmobiling, they encountered an abandoned railroad trestle last used in the 1920s deep in the Superior National Forest. The timbers are estimated to be 300 years old.
Upon getting Forest Service permission, they With permission from the Forest Service, they dismantled the beams and began construction in 1883. Every piece of the building was hand-made and exists today. It opened in 1985.
