Getting to Shovel Point from Tettegouche State Park
The hike round trip spans 1.9 miles (3.1 km) along the Superior Hiking Trail in Tettegouche. Find the trailhead leading to Shovel Point behind the park’s Visitor Center parking lot. The trek features a series of steps on the steeper portions.

You’ll find the unobstructed views from the top breathtaking, which is why it’s a favorite for photographers. You can view Palisade Head to the south. This cliff also makes an excellent site to view massive Lake Superior waves. Please take caution as you approach the cliff’s edge since there are no guard rails.
