Ninemile Lake
Ninemile Lake, surrounded by the Superior National Forest, is 12 miles west of Schroeder, MN. Nine Mile lake also features a state campground and provides excellent fishing for walleye and Bluegill on its 296 acres of water. There is public access located on the eastern shore off County Road 7.
Ninemile Lake Campground (not maintained in winter) gives access to explore the beautiful lake with its islands and hidden bays. For birders and hikers, there is a trail through boreal hardwoods beginning across the road from the campground entrance with 0.5 miles of maintained trail and 4.5 miles of an unmaintained hiking trail (backcountry navigation skills are deemed necessary for the unmaintained portion).
Just north of the campground on County 7, you can find access to Echo Lake, portage entry to Goldeneye Lake, and further north, you can also explore the Crooked Lake Canoe Route.
