3M Museum
Did you know that 3M company originated in Lake County?
The 3M Museum in Two Harbors resides in the original Dwan Law Office Building. The Lake County Historical Society purchased the Dwan Building in 1991. A year later, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and opened as a museum depicting 3M’s early years.
Completely redesigned in 2002 by the 3M Company and operated in partnership with the Lake County Historical Society, the museum pays homage to the company’s early days. 3M continued to develop the business model of research and development. It has become a global force employing over 88,000 people worldwide with annual sales of over $30 billion.
Through the generosity of the 3M Foundation with an annual operating grant, the 3M museum continues to be maintained.
